University of Hawai’i basketball players Jovi Lefotu and Aaron Hunkin-Claytor — both former standouts at ‘Iolani School — joined their respective teammates on Maui this weekend for a Keiki Clinic at Lahainaluna and an exhibition game against Chaminade at Kamehameha-Maui. For the second time in as many weekends, the University of Hawaii men’s and women’s basketball teams took their show to the Neighbor Islands. In conjunction with the Hawai’i Tourism Authority and Maui County Office of Economic Development, UH will participate in Kinip\u014dp\u014d H\u012bna’i ma Pukalani –‘Bows vs. Chaminade Silverswords<\/em>, to be held on Maui.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The festivities started on Friday with a free Keiki basketball clinic conducted by the UH and Chaminade men’s teams at Lahainaluna High School’s Jimmie H. Greig Gym late Friday afternoon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two exhibition games between UH and Chaminade are being held at Kamehameha Schools-Maui in Pukalani on Saturday. The women’s game will begin at 2 p.m. and the men’s game will begin at 5 p.m. The games will feature halftime entertainers and food and drinks for purchase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Autograph sessions follow both the men’s and women’s contests on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Warriors and Rainbow Wahine made a similar trip to Hilo last weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It’s really important to use our platform to give back,” Hawai’i men’s coach Eran Ganot said at Thursday Media Day. “We’re giving back to the communities who support us, and we’re educating our student-athletes about how special and unique each island is.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In October 2023, the Warriors played Saint Mary’s in a charity exhibition game. with proceeds benefitting victims of the Maui Wildfires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It’s a long road to recovery, and we said last year, how can we help?” Ganot said. “We need to let people know that there is still a need. So here we are.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
