The University of Hawai’i men’s basketball team immediately added more experience to its roster with the signing of veteran power forward Jalen Myers, who has already played in nearly 90 NCAA Division I games.
Myers, who is 6 foot 8, most recently suited up for Norfolk State and helped lead the Spartans to a conference championship and 2025 NCAA Tournament berth. He started 29 of 31 games for Norfolk and averaged 10.5 points and 5.4 rebounds, while shooting 52 percent from the field. The left-handed Myers scored 20 or more points three times, including a 22-point effort in the MEAC semifinal game.
“Jalen brings a wealth of Division I experience and is a winner having played a key role on a conference champion and NCAA Tournament squad,” UH coach Eran Ganot said. “He’s a high-level competitor who is also an exceptional young man from a great family. Jalen is the exact type of individual we want in our program and we know our fans will love him as well.”
Prior to Norfolk, Myers spent two seasons at Tennessee-Martin, where he appeared in 49 games. He shot a team-best 39 percent from 3-point range in his first season with the SkyHawks. Meyers began his college career at Texas A&M – Corpus Christi before transferring to Hinds Community College in Mississippi. At Hinds, he averaged 19 points per game and earned conference MVP and NJCAA National Player of the Week honors.
Myers, who is from Hunstville, Ala., was a first team all-state selection at Bob Jones High School and was ranked as the No. 3 overall prospect and No. 1 wing in Alabama.
