A new name from a familiar place has been added to the University of Hawai’i men’s basketball roster.
Lueth Awan, a 6-foot-7 guard from Sydney, joined the Warriors this summer and will have three years of eligibility. He was a development player for the Sydney Kings during the past 2025-26 National Basketball League season, appearing in 13 games including the NBL Finals on the team’s run to the championship.
“We are thrilled to welcome Lueth to the ‘Bows ‘ohana,” UH head coach Eran Ganot said. “At 6-foot-7, his length and defensive versatility make him an exciting addition to our team. He’s a gifted athlete with the potential to be a great two-way player. Besides his defensive mindset, he also has natural offensive ability. Spending a season developing in a highly professional environment like the Sydney Kings should serve as a great springboard for his career here.”
Prior to joining the Kings, Awan spent five years honing his game across the highly competitive Sydney basketball scene. His club career has featured stops with the Savannah Pride, Blacktown Storm and the North Bears, where he earned a selection to the league’s 2024 All-Star Five. He later was elevated to the club’s senior NBL1 team in 2025, before again moving up to the NBL with the Kings.
Awan is the Warriors’ fifth international recruit this season and joins senior center Bol Dengdit (from Melbourne) as the second Aussie player added to this year’s roster.
