The 60th Annual Outrigger Rainbow Classic — regarded as the longest-running regular season tournament in college basketball — will tip off Friday with a traditional doubleheader in BankOh Arena at the Stan Sheriff Center.

In the opener, Portland will face Texas-Arlington at 4:30 p.m., followed by host Hawai’i (1-0) versus Bethesda at 7 p.m. The UH game will be shown on live TV statewide by K5 and broadcast via radio on ESPN Honolulu AM1500.

The Warriors opened their season on Monday with a thrilling 74-73 victory over visiting Seattle U. Bethesda is a very unique opponent in that the Lion Angels are not a member of the NCAA or the NAIA. Instead they compete in the National Christian College Athletic Association, and their claim to fame is being the only non-NCAA/NAIA school to beat an NCAA Division I team (Cal State Northridge, in 2016 and 2021).

So far this season, Bethesda (0-4) has lost to La Sierra, 104-63, Life Pacific, 64-56, Hope International, 111-53, and University of Pacific, 102-47.
