The University of Hawai’i men’s basketball team added more depth to its 2025-26 roster with the signing of Seton Hall transfer Yacine Toumi, a 6-foot-10 post who has one year of eligibility after playing in more than 100 career Division I games over the past five years.
Toumi appeared in 29 games last season while competing for the Pirates in the Big East Conference, averaging 16.2 minutes off the bench and starting two games. He previously was a two-year starter at Evansville, where he averaged 10.6 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists. He started all but one of his 64 games for the Purple Aces. That included a 2023-24 campaign in which he was second on the team in scoring and rebounding and shot 54 percent from the floor while teaming up with Tanner Cuff, a fellow Rainbow Warrior signee.
“Yacine is a fantastic addition to our program,” UH head coach Eran Ganot said. “His ability to score, create, and get to the rim gives our team another dynamic element. He’ll also bring a great veteran voice into our locker room with his vast experience and high character. Yacine’s values fit perfectly with those of our program and we expect him to be an instant fan favorite.”
Toumi began his Division I career at Arkansas-Little Rock in 2020-21, appearing in seven games. He then played one season at Indian Hills (Calif.) Community College before returning to Division I for good the next year at Evansville.
Toumi was born in Tunisia and grew up in Meudon, France. He has international basketball experience, having suited up for the Tunisian National Team in the 2018 FIBA U18 African Championships. His introduction to basketball in the United States came at Lee Academy in Maine where he played his senior year of high school.
