Longtime nemesis UC Irvine will be making its final Big West Conference appearance in Hawai’i on Saturday as the Anteaters take on the host Warriors at 7 p.m. in BankOh Arena at the Stan Sheriff Center.

The game will be televised live statewide on Spectrum Sports Channel 12 and broadcast live via radio on ESPN 1420AM.

UC Irvine, not surprisingly, is again atop the league standings at 12-5 overall and 5-0 in conference play. UH is right behind in second place at 11-3, 3-1.

“We’re really excited about it, excited about the challenge and excited to be back home,” Warriors coach Eran Ganot said. “The reward for a tough loss is to play again, to play in games that mean a lot. For UC Irvine, the blueprint is still there — the toughness, the grit, they are elite at defending and they do have some good returners who have developed, so you can see their shot-blocking around the rim … They shoot really well, they share the ball, and obviously they’re playing their best basketball. So we’re really excited about the challenge, for sure.”

More details to come.
