In its worst loss of the season, the visiting University of Hawai’i men’s basketball team was routed by Cal State Northridge, 84-60, Saturday afternoon in Big West Conference action.
A sparse crowd of 445 at Premier America Credit Union Arena watched Larry Hughes II score a game-high 27 points and Josiah Davis add 20 points as the Matadors improved to 16-10 overall and 9-5 in league play. Isaac Finlinson scored 13 points and made three steals to lead the Warriors, who fell to 18-6, 10-4.
CSUN jumped out to a 10-2 lead and after UH closed it to 15-13 eight minutes in, eventually built a 40-28 lead at halftime. The Warriors cut it to 40-32 on Isaac “Big Fish” Johnson with 19:12 remaining in the second half, but that was as close as they would get as the Matadors separated and eventually built the lead to 78-49 with five minutes left.
