After an emotional, thrilling weekend highlighted by the official retirement of Anthony “AC” Carter’s No. 23 jersey and then an exhilarating 78-75 overtime victory over visiting UC Santa Barbara, the University of Hawai’i men’s basketball team is back on the road Thursday at UC Davis.
Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. Hawai’i time, and the game will be available for viewing via livestream on ESPN+ and broadcast live on radio via ESPN Honolulu AM1420.
In what seems like almost a different season, the Warriors opened Big West Conference play with a 75-69 home victory over the Aggies way back on Dec. 4, nearly three months ago. UH is now 19-7 overall and 11-5 in league play, in a three-way tie for first place. UC Davis comes in 17-11, 10-7.
“We’re trying to keep our momentum going, our humility as well,” Warriors coach Eran Ganot said. “We’re coming off an emotional, great win. Like we said all year, and we said it again after (Saturday’s victory). Enjoy it, but then get back to work … I think that’s helped us — the confidence, and also the humility, the balance there. The journey of it. You need to have that.
“It’s really hard, easier said than done, but you gotta do that if you want to be good individually or collectively.”
More details to come.
