University of Hawai’i men’s basketball sophomore forward Akira Jacobs has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal, according to “Verbal Commits,” a national college basketball digital tracking source.
Jacobs, who is 6-feet-10 but known especially for his 3-point shooting, played in 30 of the Warriors’ 31 games this past season, including eight starts. He averaged almost 19 minutes per outing, and 6.6 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. Jacobs finished the year third on the team in 3-pointers made, with 29 in 94 attempts (30.9 percent).
Sophomore guard Logan Robeson, who appeared in 10 games (no starts) logging 16 total minutes, also has reportedly entered the transfer portal.
Interesting move by Akira Jacobs entering the transfer portal. He’s been a solid contributor for the Warriors, especially with his 3-point shooting. Averaging 6.6 points and 2.6 rebounds in 19 minutes per game is decent for a sophomore. It’s surprising to see him leave after being third in 3-pointers made. Logan Robeson’s decision to transfer is also unexpected, given his limited playing time. Do you think this will significantly impact the team’s performance next season? What’s the plan for filling these gaps in the roster?
