
Hawai’i men’s basketball players Isaiah Kerr and Isaac Finlinson were recently named to the College Sports Communicators Men’s Basketball Academic All-District team.
In order to be eligible, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and have either competed in 90 percent of the team’s contests or started in at least 66 percent of the games.
Finlinson, a junior from St. George, Utah, started the year as a key member off the bench before starting the final 16 games of the season. The 6-8 forward finished fourth on the team in scoring (9.2 ppg) and three-pointers made (34) while appearing in all 33 games. He earned a 3.64 grade point average at UH while majoring in human development and family studies.
Kerr played in 29 games while averaging 20.6 minutes per game. The junior guard from Palo Alto, Calif., averaged 6.4 points and 2.4 rebounds as the team’s top guard off the bench. Kerr earned a 3.94 GPA while majoring in psychology at UH.
Kerr and Finlinson were key contributors in a UH team that finished with a 24-9 record while capturing the Big West Championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, the team’s first appearance in the Big Dance in 10 years.
