The University of Hawai’i men’s basketball team has continued to replenish its once-depleted roster, with the recent addition of Alois Leyrolles, a 6-foot-8 forward from Fribourg, Switzerland.
“Aloïs is a versatile, high-IQ basketball player who is a tremendous addition to our program,” head coach Eran Ganot said. “He brings international experience, having competed professionally in Europe and having represented his national team on the world stage. He can play multiple positions and his shooting range and ability to read the court make him a perfect fit for our system. We’re thrilled to welcome Aloïs to the ‘Bows ‘ohana.”
Leyrolles spent the 2025-26 season playing for Fribourg Olympic in the Swiss Basketball League (SBL), the top-tier division in Switzerland. He appeared in 31 games last season, averaging 6.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.2 steals per outing.
Leyrolles also spent time developing in the French basketball system with Cholet Basket, competing in the LNB Espoirs (U21) league. He also gained valuable exposure participating in the Basketball Champions League qualification rounds and the FIBA Europe Cup.
In addition to his club career, Leyrolles has been a fixture in the Swiss national team pipeline. He served as a primary offensive focal point for Switzerland at the 2022 FIBA U18 European Championship Division B, where he averaged 11.1 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.9 assists in seven tournament games. Leyrolles also recently earned a call-up to the senior Swiss National Team, suiting up for a pair of European qualifiers ahead of the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
