The University of Hawai’i will celebrate the start of the college basketball season at 1 p.m. Saturday with “Rainbow Madness” in SimpliFi Arena at the Stan Sheriff Center. The free event will not only give fans their first glimpse of the Rainbow Warrior and Rainbow Wahine basketball teams, but also promises a fun and interactive afternoon of competition and prize giveaways.

The afternoon will feature:

  • Introductions of each player on the 2024-2025 men’s and women rosters.
  • 3-point contest and skills challenge where players represent fans who will claim a prize if their player wins.
  • keiki dunk contest, judged by members of the men’s team and women’s team.
  • The fan-favorite Mystery Box promotion with a pair of coveted prizes.
  • A prime opportunity for fans to preview and pick locations for new season tickets.
  • Free posters for all fans with both teams closing out the day with an autograph session

The Rainbow Warriors are coming off their second straight 20-win season with eight newcomers joining seven returnees. Their first “game” will be an exhibition vs. UH Hilo at 7 p.m. Oct. 25 at Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium in Hilo.

The Rainbow Wahine return 10 players and welcome five newcomers to a team that captured last season’s Big West regular-season title.
