HILO — After a mostly sunny week in what once was considered the “rainiest town in America,” the familiar precipitation and overcast skies in Hilo greeted the University of Hawai’i men’s basketball team on Friday morning, just in time for the 7 p.m. exhibition game against UH-Hilo at historic Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium.
The game — presented and organized by the Rainbow Coalition headed by Mike Kawazoe — also tips off a full weekend of events featuring both the UH and UH-Hilo men and women’s teams, including a pair of free keiki clinics conducted by both schools Saturday afternoon at the Pana’ewa Park Gym. The boys’ clinic will be held from 2 p.m.-3:15 p.m., and the girls’ clinic will be 3:30 p.m.-4:45 p.m.
On Sunday, the UH Rainbow Wahine will face the UH Hilo Lady Vulcans in a 2 p.m. exhibition game at the Civic.
Both the men’s and women’s games will be broadcast live statewide radio via ESPN Honolulu AM 1420.
