Warriors jump all over CS Bakersfield, 98-71

Hawai’i made quick roadkill of Cal State Bakersfield’s Road Runners Thursday night, starting fast and not looking back en route to a 98-71 home victory in Big West Conference men’s basketball action.

An announced crowd of 4,555 in BankOh Arena at the Stan Sheriff Center watched Dre Bullock score 17 points and grab 12 rebounds and Isaac “Big Fish” Johnson add 12 points and three boards as the Warriors improved to 14-4 overall and 6-2 in league play. Dailin Smith scored a game-high 28 points and Mike Price added 12 points for Bakersfield, which fell to 8-13, 2-7.

UH jumped out to leads of 9-2, 20-5 and 24-6 in the first eight minutes and took a commanding 48-30 lead into halftime. The Road Runners never got closer than 17 points in the second half, as the Warriors eventually stretched their lead up to 30 points.

Hawai’i continues its homestand Saturday with a 7 p.m. game against Cal State Northridge.
