Four University of Hawai’i men’s basketball players were recently named to the Big West’s Academic All-Conference team.
Co-Captain Tom Beattie, a sophomore guard majoring in Exploratory Business, sophomore forward Akira Jacobs (KRS, Health and Exercise Science), graduate senior guard Ryan Rapp (unclassified) and junior forward Harry Rouhliadeff (KRS, Health and Exercise Science) each received the honor.
To be eligible for the Academic All-Conference team, student-athletes must maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average, complete one full year at the member institution prior to the season for which the award is being received (at least a sophomore academically) and compete in at least 50 percent of their team’s contests.
The Big West recognizes individuals academically per season – fall, winter, and spring – for all conference-sponsored sports.
Of the four men’s basketball players honored, only Rouhliadeff is expected to return for next season. Beattie and Jacobs entered the transfer portal, and Rapp’s eligibility has expired.
